Fact File: Adele

Adele Atkins began her musical career when she graduated from the Brit School in 2006. She originally aspired to work in A&R, but after putting some demos on MySpace she gained a record deal with indie label XL Recordings.

Her first album "19" was a UK #1, causing her to receive the Brit Awards Critics Choice and BBC Sound of 2008. She spent the next two years touring and working on new material for the second album "21" which was released in 2011. The second album was incredibly popular, establishing her in the US as the album sold more than 350,000 copies in it's first week alone. In the UK the album held the #1 position for 16 week, and has now sold about 3 million copies since it's release. The singles "Rolling In The Deep" and "Someone Like You" have been most successful with music videos winning three MTV Awards. "Someone Like You" set a record by being the first single to sell more than 1 million copies in this decade.

Some of her inspirations include Pink, Beyonce, along with many female soul singers.

In October 2011, Adele has to cancel two her shows due to a hemorrhage on her vocals. She also commented on her next album which she has already begun writing for.
